Family therapy services are services provided for the direct benefit of an individual, with family members and/or other relevant persons in attendance. Interventions must identify and build competencies to strengthen family functioning in relationship to the individual's identified goals. The individual may or may not be present.
After the assessment is completed, your therapist may recommend both individual and family sessions to help define the issues and work towards a change and resolution of the concern. Family therapy is used to strengthen the healthy functioning of family life. The therapist may use some of the following approaches: mindfulness, cognitive behavioral therapy, motivational interviewing, effective communication, parenting techniques and positive psychology.
